  • This is a multi-phased capital improvement program to an historic (c. 1908) library.  The project is funded with a CT State Library Grant.

  • The lower-level Community Room will be divided to separate it from the Teen Lounge. Flexible furniture and new technology will support diverse community activities and new Teen Lounge furniture and furnishings will encourage creativity and collaboration.

  • The Children’s Library will feature a new circulation desk and leaf shaped acoustical clouds to enhance a playful experience and a new nursing mothers’ room will provide a quiet place for mother and child.

  • The redesigned Staff Workroom will enhance staff interaction, maximize storage space, and provide additional work zones. The Staff Lounge is relocated to capture more natural light and features a fully equipped kitchen with new appliances and cabinetry.

  • The Adult Library renovation brings a variety of experiences and resources with new collaborative spaces, study carrels, technology equipped meeting rooms, and even a café. New bookstacks, furniture, carpet, paint, ceilings, and light fixtures will give the space a fresh and updated appearance.

  • Renovation of the Lobby will include a new custom-built circulation desk and updated fixtures and paint. The History and Reading room will undergo a much-needed restoration of the existing plaster walls and molding, new historic paint colors, and updated lighting.
